Heartbeat & Health Monitoring

The connect agent continuously monitors its connection to the AgentWatch server to ensure uninterrupted operation.

  • Health Ping: The agent sends a heartbeat to /agent/health every 30 seconds.
  • Fail-Open Policy: When AgentWatch is unreachable, the agent falls back to direct passthrough, allowing traffic to flow uninterrupted.
  • Fail-Closed Policy: Alternatively, the agent can be configured to block all traffic when AgentWatch is unreachable, ensuring no unmonitored AI usage.
  • Circuit Breaker Pattern: The agent opens the circuit after 5 consecutive health check failures. While open, the configured fail-open or fail-closed policy applies. The circuit resets (half-open) after 30 seconds and closes again on a successful health check.
