Configuration & Admin
Generate Enterprise gives administrators control over the platform and gives each user control over their own settings. Users belong to workspaces; administrators manage users and teams, assign roles, toggle features, set quotas, and configure storage and backups, while users manage their profile, appearance, and workspace membership.
What is a workspace in Generate?
Section titled “What is a workspace in Generate?”A workspace is the container users belong to, with its own users, teams, knowledge, and configuration. Generate is multi-workspace: a user who belongs to more than one sees a Switch workspace control to move between them.
What can administrators configure?
Section titled “What can administrators configure?”- Users — invite, edit, delete, resend invitations, and transfer ownership.
- Teams — create and manage teams (a Default Team exists by default); teams drive sharing and team-based access.
- Roles — super admin, admin, user, and viewer.
- Feature configuration — toggle features and individual connectors on or off per workspace (feature flags).
- Quotas — view usage and set per-user overrides (super-admin).
- Storage, indexing, analytics, and backups — connect storage, run and monitor indexing jobs, review storage analytics, and configure NetApp ONTAP backups.
What personal settings can users manage?
Section titled “What personal settings can users manage?”Users manage their Account (name, profile image, delete account), Preferences (theme — Light, Dark, or System — and language), API Keys, Token Usage, a Quotas view, and workspace switching. Notifications are delivered in-app. Generate is a responsive web application (no separate native mobile app).
