Knowledge Base
Generate Enterprise’s Knowledge Base is where teams add the documents and data the AI answers from. Files are processed and indexed so they are searchable by meaning, not just keywords, which lets AI Chat and agents return accurate, cited answers grounded in your own content. The Knowledge Base can also draw on connected databases and cloud sources.
What file formats does the Knowledge Base support?
Section titled “What file formats does the Knowledge Base support?”Generate accepts PDF; Word (DOC, DOCX); PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX); Excel (XLS, XLSX, XLSB); CSV; plain text (TXT); Markdown (MD); and images (PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, SVG). Each file can be up to 200 MB, and up to 50 files can be uploaded at once.
Can you upload images to Generate?
Section titled “Can you upload images to Generate?”Yes. Standalone image files (PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, SVG) can be uploaded directly. Images, tables, and charts embedded inside documents are also read when a file is processed in Precision mode.
What are the Express and Precision processing modes?
Section titled “What are the Express and Precision processing modes?”When adding files, Generate offers a “Processing mode” with two options:
- Express — fast; reads the text only, with no source citations.
- Precision — reads tables, charts, and images, and cites its sources.
How do you add and manage documents?
Section titled “How do you add and manage documents?”Documents are added from the Knowledge Base using Add Files (a local upload or a connected cloud source) or Add database. The chat-side sources panel is titled Sources and has Files and Databases tabs. Each file shows a processing status — Pending, Processing, Syncing, Completed, Failed, and others. Files can be renamed, in-progress uploads cancelled, and failed extractions retried. Inside a project, the Knowledge Base is scoped to that project.
